Dear Parent/Guardian and Student,
"OurSCHOOL" School Climate Survey 2016-2017
The Governor Simcoe School Climate Survey is a short (15-20 minute) survey for students and parents with a focus on gathering information about students' and parents' experiences of school safety, acceptance, and inclusion. It is a web-based survey that guarantees anonymity of the respondents. A summary of results will be shared with staff, School Council members, and Safe Schools Teams for planning purposes. The DSBN will be surveying all students in Grades 4 to 12, and all DSBN parents.
A safe, inclusive and accepting school creates an environment for students to do their best in the classroom and beyond. Hearing the student 'voice' is key to the development and implementation of school and Board level improvement plans.
The Governor Simcoe survey allows students to anonymously share their personal experiences of safety, inclusion and well-being. The data from the surveys will give schools a 'big picture' of issues that need to be addressed. Students participating in the survey will not be asked for any personal information that will reveal their identity.
For the 2016-17 school year, the Governor Simcoe survey will be administered to students over the next week as well as in April. The parent survey will be administered in April. Details about accessing the parent survey will follow at a later date.
